Lakaz Moris is an AALSIM initiative designed to support the progressive improvement, professionalisation, formalisation, and visibility of Mauritius’ non-hotel accommodation sector. The initiative provides operators with a practical pathway from basic commitment to verified good practices, sustainability recognition, and improved finance-readiness. It is designed to help the sector improve quality, strengthen guest confidence, support responsible tourism, and create a more visible Mauritian identity for non-hotel accommodation.
Standards
The objective is to help operators improve quality, visitor safety, service consistency, sustainability, and commercial credibility, while creating a stronger identity for the Mauritian non-hotel accommodation offering.
Committed
Operators commit to basic responsible hosting principles, including transparency, guest safety, respect for communities, and willingness to improve professional practices.
Verified
Operators undergo a basic verification process covering essential service standards, guest information, hygiene, safety, truthful listing information, and operational readiness.
Sustainable Recognition
Operators demonstrating stronger practices in water, energy, waste, local sourcing, responsible tourism, and community engagement may progress towards sustainability recognition.
Finance-Ready
Operators with structured improvement plans and stronger operational practices may become better prepared to access upgrade finance, subject to normal banking and credit assessment processes.
Important note:
Lakaz Moris is an AALSIM professional improvement and recognition framework. It does not replace statutory licensing, official classification, government certification, or any legal requirement applicable to tourism operators in Mauritius. Operators remain responsible for complying with all applicable laws, permits, tax obligations, and regulatory requirements.
